PFAS (Per‑ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances)
→ A group of synthetic chemicals (thousands of compounds)
→ Often called“forever chemicals” because they don’t break down easily -
Microplastics
→ Tiny plastic particles (solid pieces <5 mm)
→ Come from broken-down plastic or are manufactured small
- PFAS = chemical contamination dissolved in water
- Microplastics = physical particles floating in water
